Golf Cart & Bicycle Policy
This policy governs the use of golf carts, low-speed vehicles (LSVs), and bicycles by guests of Coastal Vacation Rentals, whether the equipment is provided with a home or rented from a third-party vendor during your stay. It is part of our Rental Policies and a condition of every reservation. Golf carts, LSVs, and bicycles can cause serious injury, property damage, or death; guests use them entirely at their own risk. Questions? Call us at 833-854-4177.
Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to the guest who made the reservation and to every member of their party, their invitees, and any minors in their care. It covers any golf cart, LSV, or bicycle that is provided with a home, made available by a community or association, or rented from a third-party vendor for use during the stay. By reserving a home, or by using or permitting the use of this equipment, the guest accepts this policy on behalf of their entire party.
Golf Carts & LSVs: Who May Drive
Operators must be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid driver's license. Under no circumstances may anyone under 21, or anyone without a valid driver's license, operate a golf cart or LSV. The guest who signed the reservation is responsible for ensuring every operator in their party meets this requirement, and for any consequences if they do not.
Golf Carts & LSVs: Where and How to Drive
Standard golf carts are not street legal and may only be used within the community or association where the home is located. Street-legal LSVs may be driven only on roads posted at 35 mph or less and never on Highway 98, the beach or sand, dunes or native vegetation, nature trails, bike paths, or sidewalks. All traffic laws and all community, HOA, and condominium rules apply, including parking rules. Some communities prohibit golf carts entirely; it is the guest's responsibility to confirm the rules for their home before use. Carts must be parked only where permitted, with the key removed, and left plugged in or fueled as instructed.
Golf Carts & LSVs: Passengers and Conduct
Passengers may not exceed the number of seats and seat belts on the cart, and every passenger must remain seated while the cart is moving. No child may ride on another passenger's lap, and children age five and under must ride in an appropriate car or booster seat (not provided). Operating a cart under the influence of alcohol or drugs, overloading it, racing, towing, or otherwise misusing it is strictly prohibited and will result in the immediate loss of golf cart privileges without refund.
Bicycles: Who May Ride and Safety Equipment
Bicycles are provided or rented for the use of the registered guests only. Florida law requires a properly fitted helmet for every rider and passenger under 16; Coastal Vacation Rentals strongly recommends a helmet for every rider of any age. Children may ride as passengers only in a child seat or trailer that is properly rated and attached, and never on handlebars, frames, or racks. Electric bicycles may be ridden only by guests 16 and older. Inspect brakes, tires, and seat height before each ride and report any problem before riding; do not ride a bicycle that appears unsafe.
Bicycles: Rules of the Road
Bicycles are vehicles under Florida law. Riders must ride with the flow of traffic, obey all traffic signals and signs, yield to pedestrians on shared paths and sidewalks, and use hand signals when turning. From sunset to sunrise a bicycle must have a white front light and a red rear light or reflector. One rider per seat; no riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs; no riding on dunes, native vegetation, or other protected areas. Lock the bicycle whenever it is unattended and store it as instructed at the home when not in use. Riders are responsible for knowing and following the rules of any community, path, or park they ride in.
Damage, Loss, and Costs
The guest is liable and responsible for all damage to any golf cart, LSV, or bicycle and all associated costs throughout the stay, including but not limited to damage, theft, loss, lost keys, locks, chargers, or accessories, tickets, fines, citations, towing or retrieval, and required charging or fueling. Coastal Vacation Rentals may charge the card on file for any such costs it incurs. Report any damage, loss, or mechanical issue immediately. No compensation is provided if equipment becomes unavailable or inoperable, and no refunds are given for weather or for issues that were not reported during the stay. Where equipment is rented from a third-party vendor, the vendor's rental agreement governs in addition to this policy.
Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnification
Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnification. By reserving a home and by using or permitting the use of any golf cart, LSV, or bicycle, the guest, on behalf of themselves and every member of their party, invitee, and minor in their care, voluntarily assumes all risk of injury, death, property damage, and loss arising from that use, whether caused by the equipment's condition, its operation, road, path, or weather conditions, or the acts of any person. To the fullest extent permitted by Florida law, the guest releases, waives, discharges, and covenants not to sue Grander Enterprises, LLC, DBA Coastal Vacation Rentals, and its affiliates, owners, members, managers, employees, and agents, and the owner of the home (collectively, the "Released Parties"), from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, and liability of every kind, including claims based on the negligence of the Released Parties, arising out of or connected with the use of a golf cart, LSV, or bicycle. The guest further agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claim, loss, fine, or expense, including attorney's fees, brought by or on behalf of any person and arising from the guest's or their party's use of such equipment. This release is a condition of the reservation, is binding on the guest and the guest's heirs, personal representatives, and assigns, and survives the end of the stay.
Violations
Any violation of this policy by the guest or a member of their party results in the immediate loss of golf cart, LSV, and bicycle privileges without refund, and may result in the termination of the stay under our Rental Policies without refund. The guest remains fully liable for every consequence of a violation.
Acceptance
By reserving a home with Coastal Vacation Rentals, or by using or permitting the use of any golf cart, LSV, or bicycle during a stay, the guest confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to this policy on behalf of their entire party, and that it is binding on them and on their heirs, personal representatives, and assigns. This policy is to be read together with our Rental Policies; where the two address the same subject, this policy governs the use of golf carts, LSVs, and bicycles.
